Windermere

Wooden Boats

I took this Photo when I was at Lake Windermere in August

and I was drawn to these wooden Boats all tied up in a row they have a lot of character.

From Wikipedia

Windermere is the largest natural lake in England.[1] It is a ribbon lake formed in a glacial trough after the retreat of ice at the start of the current interglacial. It has been one of the country’s most popular places for holidays and summer homes since the arrival of the Kendal and Windermere Railway‘s branch line in 1847. It is in the county of Cumbria and entirely within the Lake District National Park.

Have been to Windermere many times-couple of hours away by train. Did you go up Orrest Head?

    • mikew66 says:

No it was a quck one day trip so will have to put it on the List for next time
      Thanks Andy

      • Andy says:

Okay. It’s dead easy-it is over the road from Windermere train station, and is paved about two thirds of the way up. With little effort you get to see some stunning views. It is the place that inspired Wainwright to start his walking.

Gosh – were you really in the Lake District and it wasn’t raining or have you been very clever with your camera? Seriously, if you were there and it was dry you were very, very lucky. Lovely photo.
